Back in January, I was driving to one of our offices on the other side of the state for work. On the way, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Work agreed to pick up the tab for a new bumper, if I would install it (or pay someone to, as long as they weren't on the hook for labor). The bumper finally arrived last weekend, and I finally had the time today to remove the old one and install the new one. I feel like I have average to above average mechanical skills, depending on who you're comparing me to, but I have very little experience with working with body parts. I'm about to get a bunch more, but that's a post for another day. I was surprised at how easy it was, and even more surprised at how HARD it was to do RIGHT. I'm sure part of my problem was that I ended up with an aftermarket part, instead of genuine Toyota, but it was a real bitch to get the gaps all right. For a part held on by maybe 10 screws/bolts/push connectors/tabs, it was a VERY fiddly job to get everything all lined up. I now have a new found respect for people who do this kind of thing regularly, and even more respect for folks who do ACTUAL body work for a living. I also have a new found understanding of why every Honda with an owner installed body kit looks so shitty.

Retread is some shit. You've really got to swerve all over the place to avoid it.

Glad that everything got fixed nicely though.

Was it a bumper from Certi-Fit, or Sorta-Fit as we in the industry like to call it?

No idea. I think it came from a company in Texas, but the part itself was made in Taiwan. Kinda ironic for a quasi-Japanese car.
